Friday 7 and Saturday 8 August, Kryptonite Radio Theater returns to Greek myth - encouraged, frankly, by how well the recent film adaptation of our 2025 Odyssey has been doing.

The strongest man who ever lived is handed twelve impossible tasks, no useful advice, and an audience of gods enjoying this far more than they should be.

In it: a hero with the physical capability of a small army and the planning instincts of a Labrador. A goddess conducting three thousand years of vengeance at a volume the target never once picks up. A King of Mycenae who runs the whole operation from inside a large buried jar and would rather not be disturbed. A narrator who is deeply, personally offended.

And songs. There was never really a chance there would not be songs.

Live radio theatre, in English. No set, no visuals, everything built out of voices and live sound effects - which is doing several of the monsters a considerable favour. We have been doing this in Wiesbaden since 2010 and nobody has yet stopped us.

Nobody asked for this. We don't care.

Five performers. A frankly irresponsible number of favourite blockbusters. Zero consensus on what any of them should sound like as a musical.

Which is how you end up with: Bond - clearly with a license to kill. Dune - the spice must flow, apparently. Jaws - a Broadway soft-shoe treatment it has been waiting decades for. Predator - reimagined as a breathy French art-house love story. And more!

Act Two: they try to combine all of it into one perfect blockbuster. Everyone has strong opinions. No one agrees. This was always going to happen.

Kryptonite Radio Theater has been performing live radio plays in Wiesbaden since 2010. This is not our most sensible idea. We're doing it anyway.

A medieval mystery where pilgrims are less focused on reaching Canterbury than on not getting stabbed.

Characters who are definitely lying. Dialogue that may or may not reflect the 14th century.

One very large bet. Eighty days to circumnavigate the globe - by train, by steamship, by elephant, and by increasingly desperate improvisation. London to Suez to India to Hong Kong to the Americas and back again, with obstacles at every stop and absolutely no time to deal with any of them.

What Awaits:
• A race across four continents with no margin for error
• A cast of characters who are absolutely certain they know what's going on (they don't)
• Bureaucracy, betrayal, bad luck, and at least one encounter we are contractually obligated not to describe

The Vibe:
Comedy-adventure at full throttle. The world is large, the deadline is real, and everyone involved is making catastrophically confident decisions. Jules Verne wrote the blueprint. We made changes.
